On Friday November 7th, 2008, the CEDAW Committee established a working group to draft a new CEDAW General Recommendation on older women. This will not only provide guidance on the better protection of older women's rights, but also ensure that older women are considered when States that have ratified the Convention report to the Committee on their progress in implementing it. Elizabeth Sclater from OWN, Europe and accredited to the meeting by the Gray Panthers, acted as rapporteur.
